I hadn't considered that, and of course, I only use NeuroLens with
uncompressed files (because that's all it supports). I think neurolens
actually converts everything to MINC files, though I'm not entirely
sure.
Anyway, indeed with uncompressed nifti, the performance is a little
faster, especially within a slice.
Interestingly, with HDF5 (thus, MINC2), compressed reads are generally
faster than from uncompressed files. Thus, a switch to MINC2 could
yeild a dramatic boost for interactive analyses... maybe one day!
