Hi Li,
Presumeably you are referring to modelling a group average with extra
regressors/EVs in the group GLM design matrix that contain additional
measurements, such as age, handedness etc.? If so then the presence of
these and the degrees of freedom they use up are automatically
accounted for in the calculation of both variance of the contrasts and
also in the degrees of freedom that get used in the resulting t-test.
