Dear Colleagues,
I have the pleasure of informing you that a colleague of mine Professor Alex
Lubet from the University of Minnesota (USA) (CV attached) will be in Malta
during these coming two weeks. Apart from a joint collaborative research
and lecturing programme we are engaged in he is also interested in getting
to know as much of what is happening in the local disability scene as
possible.
Consequently, I would like to invite you to an informal meeting.

Profile: Professor Alex Lubet
Alex Lubet is Morse Alumni/Graduate & Professional Distinguished Teaching
Professor of Music and American and Jewish Studies at the University of
Minnesota (USA). He also heads his university's Disability Issues Committee
and Interdisciplinary Graduate Group in Disability Studies. Widely credited
with having introduced music into the field of disability studies, his
articles appear in such publications as Disability Studies Quarterly, Review
of Disability Studies, International Journal of Inclusive Education,
International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Encyclopedia of
Disability, and Medical Problems of Performing Artists. His Disability
Studies in Music (forthcoming, Temple University Press) will be the first
sole-authored monograph on disability studies in music. Lubet is also a
prolific composer, whose works have received over 400 performances on six
continents. A multi-instrumentalist, he performs solo, for theatre and
dance productions, and in the duo Far East/Lower East, with his wife Iris
Shiraishi. His album Just Guitar will be released shortly on the MMC (Music
Masters Collective) label.
