Dear all,
Vincent, Onwubiko has been sent tickets to be removed/deported on Virgin
Atlantic Flight VS651 on 11 November departing Heathrow terminal 3 at 22:20.
Vincent came from Nigeria in 1994. He is married to someone of British
descent and they have an 11-year-old daughter. He lived in Lewisham until
his detention.
He is being held in Brixton (rather than at a detention centre) because the
pretext for his deportation is that he was driving whilst banned. He is a
polio survivor and has a dislocated hip.
He states that the Home Office (HO) have told Lewisham Hospital not to
operate on his hip because of his legal status. He has not left the UK
since arriving here in 1994. He has represented the UK at the Paralympics
on a number of occasions, prior to him acquiring his hip injury which he
says he got whilst representing the UK at International Level.
Vincent's legal representative is Michael but Vincent cannot recall his last
name. Michael's mobile number is 07984 203085 and his landline is at
dolphin solicitors 0207 358 6160.
It is not possible to telephone Vincent as he is being held at a prison
rather than at a detention/removal centre. You can write to him at HMP
Brixton. His Prisoner Number should be put on the outside and inside of all
correspondence. It is BN8346.
His postal (and physical) address is A wing, HMP Brixton, PO box 369, Jebb
Avenue, SW2 5XF.
Please pass on this info to anyone whom you think may be able to influence
directly or indirectly his situation. He says a court case is pending with
the European Court of Human Rights and that his solicitor has said that he
should not be deported pending the outcome of that case. The HO is ignoring
that advice. His physical condition is deteriorating whilst he is being
held in Brixton Prison and he has not got access to the hospital or medical
care he needs. Vincent is seeking release to an address in Lewisham pending
the resolution of outstanding legal cases. He says that no criminal
prosecution is being pursued against him and that the HO is simply seeking
to have him removed from the UK.
Best wishes,
Mike Higgins
