Hi Scott
I have been researching a history of BBC sport and commentary over the past couple of years. I have a number of articles recently published and in press as well as writing a monograph with a more detailed history based on work at Caversham and over thirty hours of interviews with key producers/commentators of the 50s, 60;s and 70's. Books by Steve Barnett and Garry Whannel are very useful in this respect too. Let me know what you are looking for and I'll try and help.
Best wishes
Richard

Hi Scott,
Kath Woodward (Open University), David Goldblatt and James Wylie (freelance writer/researcher) have worked on sports at BBC World Service as part of a collaborative project in the AHRC Diasporas, Migration and Identities Research Programme - see project website:
http://www.open.ac.uk/socialsciences/diasporas/themes/sports_across_diasporas.htm
Kath has also had numerous other projects that may be relevant
All best,
Marie Gillespie

I'm putting together a book on the GPO Film Unit for the BFI and I am
trying to track down experts on early BBC/sports broadcasting history.
I'd be really grateful for any suggestions...
All best wishes
Scott Anthony
