Dear All,

It is my pleasure to inform you that The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has
set up various Fellowships and Studentships for outstanding students from
universities all over the world who would like to pursue full-time PhD
studies in HKU. For example, one of the fellowships awards an amount of
HK$240,000 (US$30,760) per year plus conference and research-related travel
allowance of HK$10,000 (US$1,280) per year to selected full-time PhD
candidates.

Fellowships & Studentships for MPhil and PhD Studies at The University of
Hong Kong 2010-2011

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is an English speaking university.
Founded in 1911, it is the longest established university in Hong Kong.  It
has gained the reputation as a world-class comprehensive research
university with excellent research record and facilities. To further
promote an international and multicultural campus, we encourage students
from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds to join our MPhil and
PhD programmes.

Fellowships/Studentships

Ø Hong Kong PhD Fellowships (HKPF) Fellowships of HK$240,000 (US$30,760)
per year plus conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000
(US$1,280) per year for selected full-time PhD candidates with outstanding
academic performance and research ability/potential. Online Application:
www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd. Application Deadline: December 1, 2009

Ø University Postgraduate Fellowships (UPF) Fellowships of HK$70,000
(US$8,970) for the entire period of study plus Postgraduate Studentships of
not less than HK$157,200 (US$20,150) per year (total of not less than
HK$174,700 (US$22,400) per year) for selected full-time PhD candidates with
excellent academic record Application: Applicants who have submitted
applications to HKPF will be automatically considered for the award of UPF.
Separate applications to UPF are not required. Application Deadline:
December 1, 2009

Ø Postgraduate Studentships (PGS) Studentships currently at not less than
HK$157,200 (US$20,150) per year for qualified full-time MPhil (2 years) and
PhD (3 to 4 years) candidates Online Application: www.hku.hk/gradsch/apply.
Main Round Application Deadline: December 31, 2009.

Conference/Travel Grants Grants for students to attend international
conferences or exchange programmes

Students may also be offered opportunity of spending part of their study
period away from campus to gain more exposure

Applicants should have an honours degree with excellent academic records.
Students in their final year of study may also apply.
