Contemporary Chinese Visual Culture and Language
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of
Florida invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in
contemporary Chinese Film/Art and Language. Appointments at the Associate
Professor rank are possible for exceptional candidates. We welcome
candidates to join a quickly growing program in Chinese language and cultural
studies with expertise in one or more of the following areas: film and media
studies, contemporary avant-garde art, subcultures, gender studies, and
contemporary social thought. We are interested in candidates who can
strengthen the emphasis on interdisciplinary visual culture and
transnationalism within the Department of Languages, Literatures, and
Cultures, and across campus with the Harn Museum of Art, the Center for Film
and Media Studies, and other institutes and centers. Salary commensurate
with experience. The teaching load is 2 + 2. The candidate will teach upper-
division language courses and content courses in the candidate’s research
areas. The candidate must have Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment and
native/near-native proficiency in Chinese and English. Teaching experience at
a university in North America is desirable. Review of applications begins
