HEAD OF BIOSTATISTICS
SALARY: £42K - £53K
BASED IN: OXFORDSHIRE - UK
This is an amazing opportunity to join one of Europes largest clinical diabetes
research groups. This is a senior position required to assist the group Director
with the running of the Statistical & Modelling Group (SMG) to the highest
standards and with specific responsibility for the continued development and
expansion of the Group.
You will liaise closely with study and trial personnel and assist staff and
research fellows with respect to statistical issues as required. The post holder
will also be required to liaise in a professional manner with external
organisations involved in research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director with the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of
clinical trials
Develop standard procedures for the production and development of
statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, biomedical, laboratory based studies
and epidemiological studies.
Conduct statistical analyses of trial data in accordance with study Standard
Operating Procedures
Prepare abstracts, posters and slides for presentation of analyses at
departmental, national and international academic meetings.
Provide high-level statistical advice to the Director and other members of
the unit.
Critique and interpret the statistical content of trial data, abstracts, posters
and manuscripts from both internal and external sources and provide advisory
reports for the Director where necessary.
The post holder must have at least 5 years practical experience in medical
statistics, epidemiology, modelling and computational methods supported by a
publication record preferably in medical or methodological research.
Skills and Experience:
PhD in Medical Statistics (or equivalent).
Track record of successful publications and/or grant applications.
At least 5 years practical experience in medical statistics, epidemiology,
modelling and computational methods supported by a publication record
preferably in medical or methodological research
Previous large-scale clinical trials research experience.
Highly motivated, able to work on own initiative with the minimum of
supervision and to function well as part of a team.
Excellent computer skills and considerable experience in using statistical
packages and database systems.
Ability to organise own work and to plan and prioritise goals to ensure
deadlines are met
Proven experience of undertaking survival analyses, implementing
randomisation schemes, multivariate modelling, logistical regression analyses
and quality of life analyses.
Proven project and staff management skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
