Hello,
After working as a broadcast software developer for seven years I have decided to change careers to something more mathematical. I decided to achieve this by studying for an MSc in Statistics at Birkbeck. To do that I needed to get their College Certificate of Continuing Education, which I duly recieved and was invited to study for their two year MSc. After completing the first year life caught up with me and I was not able to complete the second.
I left Birkbeck with a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics intending to complete my studies at Lancaster University but had to defer my place there. Unfortunately it now looks like I will not be able to take my deferred place at LU in 2010 either.
Ideally I would like to have a position as a Statistical Analyst in a scientific field such as Medical, Pharma, Environmental, etc. I would not mind starting in a programmer type role and gaining my MSc via a vocational training scheme.
I see that I can get SAS certification via e-learning for base and advanced programmers. Would having this certification allow me to enter the job market along with a BSc in Comp Sci, Cert. in Math and a Post Grad Dip in Statistics? Or should I focus on receiving the originally intended MSc?
You thoughts will be greatly appreciated!
Kevin.
