Post Doctoral Research Fellow/Research Assistant in Genetic Epidemiology (Job reference: 314374)
Section of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine (LIMM)
University of Leeds
Applications are sought for the post of Post Doctoral Research Fellow or Research Assistant in the Melanoma and Statistics Groups, within the Section of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, to implement a risk algorithm for melanoma, and to work on gene/environment interaction studies for individuals carrying germline mutations in the CDKN2A gene.
This post is funded by a Network of Excellence (NoE) grant, from the European Commission. The grant was obtained by the Melanoma Genetics Consortium, GenoMEL (see www.genomel.org<http://www.genomel.org>) to provide administrative support for the consortium and to fund a series of research projects.
You will have a strong quantitative background ideally an MSc or PhD in statistics or epidemiology or commensurate experience in quantitative research. The aim of the project is to use in-house and published data to estimate the risk of melanoma associated with genetic, phenotypic and environmental risk factors and to translate a risk algorithm for melanoma into a web-based tool for risk prediction for the use of clinicians and the general public.
For appointment at grade 7 you are expected to either have a PhD or be near completion of one in a relevant subject.
The post is available until 31 May 2011.
Salary: Grade 6 (£24,152 - £28,839 p.a.) or Grade 7 (£29,704 - £35,469 p.a.)
Grade and salary offered is dependent upon qualifications and relevant research experience.
