Statistician/Analyst
Salary range: £35,569 - £42,476
Closing date: noon, Monday 30th November 2009
The King’s Fund is a charity that seeks to understand how the health system
in England can be improved. Using that insight, we help to shape policy,
transform services and bring about behaviour change. Our work includes
research, analysis, leadership development and service improvement. We also
offer a wide range of resources to help everyone working in health to share
knowledge, learning and ideas.
Your role in data analysis for the Fund will help influence health and
social care policy and generate informed national debate. Working
collaboratively with other information analysts to support the analytical
requirements of colleagues in our Policy department, you’ll develop and
undertake statistical analyses using routine datasets relevant to current
health policy. Other key tasks include being responsible for obtaining,
storing, and managing a range of datasets and presenting your findings to a
range of audiences.
A degree (or equivalent experience) in statistics or a related discipline
with a quantitative focus is a must, together with an impressive track
record in health services research, statistical analysis, computer
programming and data manipulation using large health datasets. You should
also have well-developed skills in using specialist database software, such
as SQL server, statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS or Stata, and software
such as MS Access and Excel. Proven ability to communicate complex issues
clearly and simply, and having good verbal and written communication skills,
is essential.
