Hi Antoinette,
one of the positive things that is happening in the
Social Work Degree Course is the involvement of
Service Users and Carers in the course - starting
with vetting and interviewing applicants and
continuing through providing lectures and training
in interviewing clients etc.
I mention this because something similar would
definitely benefit the training of architects,
planners, building control officers etc. by
including members of Access Groups as part of the
training resource to bridge the enormous gulf
between theory and practice.

Dear Antoinette
KT-EQUAL ran a workshop on this theme in April this
year. Details can be
found on the SPARC web site www.sparc.ac.uk , then
go to workshops and then
to previous workshops to locate the workshop. Most
of the presentations made
at the workshop can be downloaded.
Kind regards
Peter
