Actually, that book by Paul Starr was published in 1983. I have it on my library shelves right in front of me as I write this. But maybe 26 11/12th years is OK?

I might add Paul Starr's history of the US medical profession.
"The Social Transformation of American Medicine". I think it was written in the late 70s so should make the cut.

Terrific idea.
My candidates:
• Rosemary Stevens, American Medicine and the Public Interest
• Carolyn Tuohy, Accidental Logics.

Hi
I have a quick question. We’re keen to start a new section in Health Economics, Policy and Law that revisits and reviews some of the classic texts in health policy (economics, political science or law-related) from the past. Books we have in mind so far are Bob Evans’ ‘Strained Mercy’, one of Brian Abel-Smith’s books, Victor Fuchs’ ‘Who Shall Live?’, and “The Gift Relationship” by Titmuss.
We were wondering if any of you could suggest some classic texts that you think we might usefully review in this series?
Best,
Adam
