Community engagement: Partnerships
Date: Thursday 26th November 2009
Time: 09:45 - 16:45
Venue: MLA London, 4th Floor, 53-56 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DG
Increasingly we are all working in partnership with other organisations and groups to deliver projects and services. These partnerships are essential for us to access funding and to increase community participation in our services, but how do we create and sustain a successful partnership project? What partnership models should be used for different projects and services? And how do we make sure that all of our partners, long and short term, benefit from the relationship?
This one day course has a practical focus that will address these questions and other aspects of partnership. It will have a focus on engaging with communities through partnership but the principles could be transferred to cover a number of partnership scenarios. By the end of the day participants will:
understand why partnership building is important
discover what we can all gain from partnership working
investigate different partnership models and how they function
know how partnerships work- good and bad practice
have improved partnership building skills
understand how to ensure that we can sustain successful partnerships
Participants will be asked to come with an idea of a partnership that they are in the process of building - or would like to build - and will take part in practical case-study workshop sessions to look at this work in more depth.
