REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR EDITORSHIP OF HISTORY IN AFRICA: RESPOND BY
NOVEMBER 18 2009
The African Studies Association, an organization founded in 1957 as a
non-profit organization open to all individuals and institutions interested
in African affairs, is seeking an Editor for its annual journal History in
Africa: A Journal of Method due to the retirement of the journal's
long-standing editor, Dr. David Henige.
This journal focuses on historiographical and methodological concerns and
publishes textual analysis and criticism, historiographical essays,
bibliographical essays, archival reports and articles on the role of theory
and non-historical data in historical investigation. For your reference,

Approximately 490
Distribution: Approximately 400 subscriptions Frequency: Produced annually
in September
Proofs/Printing: Proofs are provided by the editor to the ASA Secretariat
who oversees the print process and provides a final copy to the editor for
review.
The editor is responsible for:
1) Recruiting and receiving papers as e-mail attachments
2) Handling all correspondence regarding the progress of submitted papers
3) Copy-editing and providing copy-edited papers to a designer for final
page proofing
4) Establishing the sequence of articles in each year's journal
5) Arranging for e-offprints to be sent to authors
6) Maintaining correspondence files
