Candidates with a passion for German-language literature, a sound
knowledge of the UK book market and preferably experience within the
publishing industry, who are resilient in the face of deadlines, not shy
of book-keeping and the handling of a budget, and have a flair for
communciation and an interest in developing further an established
cultural project are invited to apply. English, either as mother-tongue
or native-speaker standard, and fluent German are a prerequisite.
NBG is a bi-annual publication financed by the governments and cultural
institutions of Austria, Germany and Switzerland which aims to promote
the literature from these countries in the UK, Europe and beyond.
The work is not bi-annual, however, and a willingness to meet
professionals, attend festivals and book fairs, correspond with
publishers, liaise with sponsors, meet with work-groups and be a
presence throughout the year is desirable.
An annual fee of £14,000 pre-tax, plus expenses, is offered.
