I had a quick look at the science-related page on SaLamander and a fair bit of it seems dated -- a number of sims/builds have moved, closed or changed use. Troy McLuhan's list is much better. Makes me wonder whether the crowd sourcing approach really works in SL at this particular moment in time? Maybe we could devote 5 min at the end of the next impromptu meeting to just verifying a couple of sims each?
MERLOT at least has an open data policy though it wasn't clear to me how you get at the data apart from RSS updates. A lot of the SL stuff appears to be how-to-teach-in-VW articles.
Makes me wonder though whether they and JORUM will share data or let someone else press that button.

I do not think we need to view OER as being exclusive to opportunities
for professional development and consultancy services in SL.
The OER movement has some very compelling arguments and proponents -
and I do not think that virtual worlds should be a 'no OER' zone. OER
web materials DO impact on the market for commercial educational
materials - but that is not sufficient argument IMHO to stop producing
OER online.
I would expect that there would be opportunities here for professional
developers, as many OER activities are supported by charities and
funding bodies.
