Dear Colleagues
RE: Academy of Learned Societies for the Social Sciences
Please can I remind you that the SPA are seeking nominations to put
forward as new Academicians. See below - please give this call some
thought.
Call for nominations for new Academicians
The SPA is a member of the Academy of Learned Societies for the Social
Sciences. In recent years we have successfully nominated a number of
SPA members to become Academicians. This is a mark of distinction and
denotes an outstanding contribution to the study and/or practice of
social policy.
We have been invited to submit nominations for the next round of
selection for new Academicians. Existing Academicians are entitled to
make one nomination each per year, and 'learned societies' - such as
the SPA - can make unlimited nominations.Nominations need to include
the reasons for making the nomination - details of the nominee's
contribution to the study and/or practice of social science; evidence
of her/his contribution to the aims of the Academy; an up-to-date CV;
and the agreement of the person being nominated. A copy of the form on
which the nomination has to be submitted can be downloaded from the
Academy's website - www.the-academy.org.uk. If you would like to
propose someone to be nominated by the SPA, complete the form from the
Academy's website and send it to the SPA Hon. Secretary, Tess Ridge
([log in to unmask]) by Friday 30th October, 2009. All nominations
will be considered by the SPA Executive before being ratified and
forwarded to the Academy. If you have any difficulty downloading the
forms please contact me and I will send you a form and guidance notes
as an attachment.
Best wishes
Tess Ridge
