Assessing the impact of Circles of Support and Accountability on the reintegration of those convicted of sexual offences into the community
The Centre for Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Leeds is delighted to invite applications for a three-year fully funded PhD studentship to start in January 2010.
This doctoral studentship aims to assess the extent to which Circles of Support and Accountability, a restorative justice project set up to reduce sexual offending, contributes towards the reintegration of released sex offenders in England and Wales.
The award is funded by the Wates Foundation and covers full UK/EU fees plus a tax-free maintenance stipend (£13,290 for 2009/10) for each of the three years of study.
Applicants should hold at least an upper second class honours degree in criminology or related social science discipline and preferably have a Master's qualification in criminology or similar discipline. Some experience of carrying out research is desirable. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills, be organised, efficient, capable of acting on their own initiative, able to travel and will have a keen interest in the social integration of sex offenders.
The successful applicant will be supervised by Dr Catherine Appleton and Dr Anthea Hucklesby at the University of Leeds and Dr Birgit Völlm at the University of Nottingham.
