Oooh...this is a good one.
In terms of this here 'credit crunch' the Government decided to have (not
sure why - probably on someone's KPIs for the year) money's tight and
justifications for continued departmental existence seem pertinent.
Some discussions about the business benefits RM/IM/KM brings and how to
effectively communicate that to the budgetary decision-makers would be
good...
Also, i understand ISO 15489 is currently under review? Something about
what direction the principles we work to are heading in?
And tied up with that i'll echo the calls for debate on this new-fangled
Knowledge Management. I'm increasingly finding myself resisting this as it
seems to me to be 'technology solution-led' rather than founded on business
need...
Cheers

Don't forget - budgets are going to be scrutinised in the minutiae next
year.
Perhaps some events focused on benefits analysis, cost reduction and using
records management
as a transformation tool, might be useful. They are certainly more likely
to gain the necessary
management approvals to allow staff to attend, and might also help position
RM as an agent of change,
rather than an area to be cut.
