ROYAL COLLEGE OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNAECOLOGISTS
INFORMATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Assistant Archivist & Records Manager
Salary: £26,168-£31,074
35 hours per week
The role of the archive and records management team is to preserve the
intellectual and business integrity of the College. It aims to ensure that full
and accurate records of College functions and activities are created, that
they are maintained and managed for as long as they are required to support
business needs, legal and other accountabilities, and that their final disposition
takes place in a planned and consistent manner. The team manages records in
a variety of formats but the emphasis is increasingly on electronic material.
The Assistant Archivist & Records Manager will manage the College’s archive
and special collections, including collection development, cataloguing, storage,
preservation, promotion and public access. He or she will also work in
partnership with the Records Manager & Archivist towards the effective
implementation of electronic document and records management, ensuring
that the needs of the permanent collection are addressed and the benefits of
integrated information management are realised.
The ideal candidate will hold a professional qualification in records
management, archive administration or an equivalent subject and have
experience of working with archive collections in a range of formats. In
addition, some experience of both paper and electronic records management
would be an advantage. He or she will be enthusiastic, have an adaptable and
flexible approach to work and be willing to tackle the challenges posed by the
implementation of a new system across the organisation.
The College is a membership organisation concerned with standards of training
and education in the medical specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology. Located
in pleasant offices overlooking Regent’s Park, the College offers an excellent
and friendly working environment with a package that includes free lunches,
subsidised gym membership, season ticket loan, first class pension scheme and
generous annual leave entitlement.
