Are you using video with young people in participatory projects? If so
we would like to invite you to one of two seminars we are running. We
are two researchers who have carried a range of projects with young
people and video, often on sensitive issues. You can see us discussing
some of these issues at:
http://www.qdpservices.com/NottinghamFollowUp.aspx. We understand how
difficult and complicated this can be as well as how rewarding. Each
seminar has a particular focus and a limited number of places (max 20)
as we want to make them as interactive as possible and hear other
peoples' views and experiences. Ideally we would like to get a mix of
people from practitioners, to academics and researchers. They are being
run on two consecutive days in London and Nottingham. The focus and
outcome of Seminar 1 in London is on the potential and problems of using
participatory video to 'voice' the views of young people, improve
practice and influence policy. The focus of Seminar 2 in Nottingham is
slightly broader and aims to explore the adequacy of current ethical
frameworks when working with young people and visual methods. The
outcomes of both seminars will be included in the materials we are
developing to support the use of video with young people. All
participants will receive a free copy of these materials.
Attached is the invitation with details of the venues, times and dates.
We will pay up to a maximum of £80 travel expenses and lunch will be
provided. Please forward this on to anyone else you think might be
interested.
Look forward to hearing from you
Kaye and Mark
