Session 1: How do we engage the students? – Small group tutorial teaching
Join Dr. Tom Stafford, Department of Psychology, University of Sheffield, to discuss how to inspire and maintain student interest; explore small group dynamics, manage difficult students; and give effective feedback.
Session 2: Managing relationships with "easy" and "difficult" supervisors and colleagues:
Supervisor relationships can be tricky to handle as a postgraduate, as can working with colleagues. Dr. Nathan Babiker, Clinical Psychologist, NHS Lincolnshire Trust, will discuss models and styles of supervision; managing conflicts and opposing interests; working with multiple supervisor arrangements; and supervision beyond the department.
Session 3: Producing papers from your PhD
The effective dissemination of your research results can be key to developing in your early career. Dr. Martin Hagger, Department of Psychology, University of Nottingham will conduct a session to help you make the most of your research. Topics include: managing the literature for your articles; ways and styles of writing; what editors are looking for and why; selecting journals smartly; and publishing pitfalls to avoid.
