Hello everyone,
I have a part-role as the Access Officer for Physics at the University of
Oxford. I've been in post for a little over a year now, quite merrily
blowing things up, freezing things down and otherwise spreading the word. My
title as Access Officer is interpreted in the widest possible way - I do a
bit of widening participation, a bit of curriculum enrichment and a bit of
public engagement.
As a department, we are now thinking about how we can focus our resources in
a more considered approach. We want to maximise the impact of our work,
playing to our strengths and making sure we don't duplicate things
successfully running elsewhere. So, I've been tasked with trying to put
together a draft 'Outreach and Engagement' strategy that lays out our
priorities for this sort of work.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some good reading or resources I can
use? Has anyone else recently been through this and can send me some tips?
It's my first time doing proper strategy, and while I have great support
from the University on the widening participation side, I could do with a
bit of help on the PEST/curriculum enrichment side
Many thanks,
Lorna Stevenson
