Fully Financed Ph.D./Teaching Assistant Opportunity
NETCOM is a Research Group within the Department of Telematics Engineering
at University Carlos III of Madrid that carries out work on network
architectures, communication protocols, distributed services and network
design topics. We are currently focussed on IPv6 and related protocols,
mobile networks and services, active and programmable networks and high
performance networking.
We are offering a unique opportunity to apply now to join us as a Teaching
Assistant, and to receive full funding throughout your Ph.D. at the
University Carlos III of Madrid, while gaining valuable professional
experience undertaking teaching duties during the academic year that will
further enhance your curriculum. We provide an international working
environment, in which we support our researchers to focus on their core
activities and to develop their careers.
The Ph.D. program starts in September/October 2010. Teaching Assistants
will be supervised by an expert tutor from either the NETCOM group within
the Department of Telematics Engineering, or from the international research
institute IMDEA Networks, with whom it works in close collaboration. Some of
our world-renowned and award-winning scientists are Dr. Nick Maxemchuk, Dr.
Marco Ajmone Marsan and Dr. Arturo Azcorra.
Applications are invited from graduates who meet the following requirements:
– B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent in Telematics, Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering or a related field*
– Excellent academic transcripts
– Clearly defined Statement of Purpose for Masters/Ph.D. research thesis
– Excellent level of spoken and written English AND Spanish
– Highly motivated
* The University Carlos III of Madrid’s admissions office could require you
to complete all or part of their Masters course as a condition of your
admittance to the Ph.D. course (subject to your academic qualifications).

opportunities to receive full funding during the four years of the Ph.D.
program and gain relevant working experience as a Teaching Assistant at the
