LIFE-SHARE Project Manager
(Fixed term for 15 months or to 28 February 2011, full time with the possibility of a jobshare).
The Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York have recently been awarded JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) funding to undertake the LIFE-SHARE project under JISC eContent Grant Funding Opportunity 02/09 focusing on "Institutional Skills and Strategies". The LIFE-SHARE partner libraries will each undertake a case study including a small amount of digitisation work - with the primary aim of identifying, and firmly establishing, institutional and consortial strategies and infrastructure for the creation, curation and preservation of a variety of digital content. LIFE-SHARE will consider a digital lifecycle model, identify the range of skills and knowledge required at each stage of the lifecycle, and create a map of skills and knowledge alongside a map of currently available training. The Project will also create a strategy 'toolkit' - a re-usable resource, intended to inform at both a strategic and service delivery level.
You will lead the development and monitoring of Project work-packages, and ensure that the Project meets projected outcomes. Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have previous experience of managing project work, experience of working with digital content, plus have a good understanding of the issues surrounding creation of digital assets and offering online access to those assets. You will need substantial experience in a customer-focused environment and in working effectively with a multi-disciplinary team, excellent communication, time management and presentation skills. The LIFE-SHARE Project will play a key part in determining future digitisation strategy at each of the partner institution libraries and these posts offer an exciting opportunity to shape future information provision in innovative ways.
Please note that travel to each of the partner institutions will be required in this post.
