There seems to be a situation of an unreconcilable dependency between
glite-rgma-api-cpp and xerces-c for the gLite 3.1 UI on SLC4 i386.
We have a standard SLC4 i386 install, up to date, with the
glite-UI-3.1.39-0.i386 meta-rpm installed on top.
We have glite-rgma-api-cpp-5.0.15-5.slc4.i386.rpm from
http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/EGEE/gLite/R3.1/glite-UI/sl4/i386/updates
amongst its requirements are libxerces-c.so.27
We have xerces-c-2.7.0-1.2.el4.rf.i386 from
http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/slc4X/i386/yum/extras/
It provides libxerces-c.so.27
Since 19th August 2009, the update xerces-c-2.8.0-1.slc4.i386 has been
available from the SLC4X/i386/yum/extras repo. It provides libxerces-c.so.28
All rpms are up to date except this one, which cannot be updated because
of the glite-rgma-api-cpp dependency on the old library.
Does anyone else have this problem, and if so is there a solution
available or planned? I don't want to force it with --nodeps, but if
someone knows that works it would also be interesting.
Thanks,
Simon
