Hello Friends,
I’ve received a request from colleagues in Ireland for assistance with drafting
a research spec. Details are below. Please contact Cliodhna O'Neill directly
if you are interested in doing the work. I do not have further details about it,
other than what she has said. All the best, and
All good wishes,

Hi Dara
See attached spec: I need a researcher ( postgrad; post doc) interested in
assisting TBG with formulating a specification for a piece of research we
want to conduct on our services based in various locations in England, as
briefly outlined in the attached.
We would envisage a number of days work (up to a couple of weeks) for an
individual (or two if they wish to work together) culminating in a spec for a
research proposal that TBG will seek expressions of interest on. The
individual would have to visit our services, probably in London for some
meetings and to access the data.
Further information on TBG learning is available from www.tbglearning.com.
The parent company of TBG is the Rehab Group: www.rehab.ie
If someone is interested, they can contact me directly with CV etc.
Kind regards
Cliodhna O’Neill

Research Requirement Outline
TBG wishes to undertake a piece of comprehensive research relating to the
learners participating in its E2E (Entry to Employment) programmes. The
following paragraphs outline the purpose of the research.
Research Objective and Purpose
To determine a detailed understanding of the 16-18 year olds who attend
TBG’s E2E training programmes. The research will profile the learners in
terms of their socio-demographics, their needs and their attitudes. It will
also track the learners through their relationships with TBG, identifying the
outcomes achieved.
The research will involve an analysis of data held at TBG on this learner
group and further primary research amongst this population.
This research will be used for four purposes
i. To input to the continuous improvement of TBG’s E2E training
programmes
ii. To provide evidence-based input to future business development
opportunities that TBG pursues
iii. To facilitate the development of evidence-based positions that
TBG will enter into public policy discussions
iv. To facilitate evidenced based material for dissemination, to
augment the promotion of TBG to relevant audiences as a leader in the field
of training provision to this group.
Timing
Project to begin October 2009
Next Steps: A research scoping exercise is required to undertake the
following
• Preliminary analysis of the data held by TBG to determine what is
currently held
• Initial meetings with small group of staff involved in E2E to
determine what information it would be most useful to have
• Short preliminary audit of research in the area to identify gaps or
areas which could be augmented by TBG’s research
• Design of a research specification for TBG to implement.
