Dear Subscribers,

Here is the translation of the letter I received (as attached text
file). It was created from home on a Windows computer and saved in ANSI
format (don't know what ANSI format is but I can read it on my Linux
box). I did my best, knowing that the French write very long sentences.
Also, I got some help from the reverso.net on-line translator.

Hope you find it a useful read.

Best,

Fred.

Mr VELLIEUX, We wish to launch in France a new tv channel (digital TV, Satellite, Internet) dedicated to everyday science, technology, innovation and creative leisure activities. The purpose is to stimulate the wish to learn, to understand, to choose better, to create, in other words to give " The pleasure to know ". We have baptized our project Leonard in homage to Leonardo da Vinci, who is the symbol of the humanist and curious spirit, the engineer, the inventor, the scientist and the artist all at the same time. More modestly, the objective of Leonard is to try to make simple what can seem complicated (this is already an ambitious project) by creating, inventing and producing entertaining and informative broadcasts. Always in direct link with the audience's everyday life, so that one can forge one's own opinion on the big societal questions or optimize one's consumers habits in the jungle of the offers. For that purpose, we have in our team - producers who have launched and produced broadcasts such as "E=M6", " The big enigmas of Science ", "Teva Déco", - scientists - and several scientific and technical journalists (TV, Radio, Internet). Thus if, as for us, this ambitious challenge seems to you more than ever of interest, if you think that it is useful and even indispensible that such a channel exists, for our children, for the oldest, for us all, we invite you to: - Draft some words of support which we shall publish on the site (click on the the support us link), and indicate to us of what you think of a such a channel that will contribute to strengthen the attractiveness of the sciences, in particular towards the young people, to promote the French technological know-how and to give the envy to create, to invent, - Speak about it, in the press, on your blogs, to your contacts, - Propose your collaboration to the Leonard channel, - To recommend to us a journalist, a scientist, a graphics designer, etc susceptible to work for Leonard, - To suggest to us partnerships, in particular with foreign TV channels... ... And any other initiative which you can imagine to help us create and bring up Leonard. For all this, meet us on www.leonardtv.fr The team: Michel Chevalet ( scientific Journalist), Nicolas Goldzahl (Producer of E=m6, Teva decoration), Jean-Marc Dubrunfaut (Sales manager at Cegetel, Polytechnic - Telecom Paris), Pascal Ossart (Sales manager, Press and Internet), Romain Gires (Founder and technical director of Canal Web) Very cordially, the Leonard team.
