Statistical/Psychometric modelling of longitudinal data
in the 1946 British birth cohort study
The Developmental and Life-Course Epidemiology group (Professor Peter
Jones, Dr Tim Croudace and Dr Jennifer Barnett) is seeking to recruit a
post-doc to work on a set of linked psychiatric, cognitive and
genetic epidemiology projects funded by a grant from The Wellcome Trust.
In collaboration with the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing (Dr Marcus
Richards and Dr Darya Gaysina), the department has been awarded a project
grant to relate longitudinal data on cognition, personality and mental
health and molecular genetics, in the 1946 British birth cohort study (the
MRC National Survey of Health and Development). Working in a
multidisciplinary team that incorporates psychology, molecular genetics,
psychiatry and epidemiology you will be involved in definition,
psychometric modelling and longitudinal linkage of life-course data on
mental health and cognition.
The successful applicant must have a relevant first degree, a higher degree
(preferably a PhD) and a record of publications/ experience of manuscript
preparation and excellent communication skills. Interest in psychiatry and
genetic mechanisms underlying individual differences in development and
psychopathology is highly desirable. It would be desirable if candidates had
gained experience of latent variable modelling approaches in Mplus or
Latent Gold, or expertise in similar procedures in another software
environment e.g. Stata or R .
