Hi Everybody
My name is michael zuliani, I'm a chartered building control surveyor working
for Cherwell council.(I have also recently commenced a MSc in access and
inclusive design at Salford University). Following the recent retirement of our
access officer the responsibilities relating to access were 'parked' with building
control (hence the opportunity to pursue the Msc) One area I'm unsure about
(one of many) relates to the following;
If a member of the public contacts the Local Authority with a complaint
regarding access issues relating to a privately owned building (within the
district), what powers (if any) does the Council have or is it a matter of
informing the complainant that they should pursue the complaint individually
through the framework of the DDA against the owner/operator of the building.
Grateful for any help offered
Michael
