ber-2009/> link and register today.
We've kept our conference fees consistent with last year's, and this is a
great opportunity to have excellent professional development opportunities .
There will be keynote speeches by Karen Cunningham of Glasgow City Council
and Margaret Forrest, this year's CILIPS chair.
The morning sessions will be presented by Wendy Ball, of Edinburgh's ELISA,
about cooperative working and passport schemes, as well as Mick Fortune who
will be chairing the RFID conference the following week. Come and hear what
next for RFID.
The afternoon offers a new element to our conference, speed surgeries. As a
delegate you'll have an opportunity to participate in three different short
presentations of your choosing which will meet the needs of your service or
personal professional development goals. Details of each of those surgeries
can be found on our website, here. <http://grampianinfo.co.uk/?page_id=139>
The topics and presenters are as follows:
1.Professional Development Strategies (Robin Armstrong-Viner) (Recently
added to the schedule!)
2. Records Management, (Mike Miller)
3. GLOW Network (Ruth MacDonald)
4. Europe Direct, (Yvonne Barclay)
Don't forget that you can tweet for a sponsored place
<http://twitter.com/GrampianInfo> to our conference (or if a tweet is a
technological step too far for you, just send a short paragraph detailing
the reasons why attending the conference would benefit you and your service
and email it to [log in to unmask]) Deadline 28 October 2009.
The conference is also host to our annual AGM, this year's being especially
important as our long serving chair, Rita Marcella is stepping down and a
new chair will be appointed. If you would like to nominate someone or have
questions about this process, please contact me by email. It is vital that
we have as many representatives from our membership to take part in the
process of electing a new chair. (All members are welcome to attend the AGM,
even if not attending the conference.) We are also taking nominations for
Grampian Information Service and Individual Awards, now is the time to speak
up for your colleagues who do a fantastic job and get them recognised for
the good they do for your profession. Nomination form and criteria can be
found
<http://grampianinfo.wufoo.com/forms/grampian-information-awards-2009/>
here. Deadline 28 October 2009
Please don't let the opportunity to attend this great local conference at a
central location pass you by!
