Yep, should be getting something - even if garbage, and the PDF is
disturbing too (i presume the pdf contained text!)
Try Scanning Options> Output tab and have a tinker. Retain full
formatting... should be checked for Word, PDF should be fully formattted
etc.
Hmmm, when it goes through the scan pass process, does it happen
instantaneously? If so sounds like RWG's scanning engine is up the
spout, as it should take some time to pass over doc/pdf/jpg so that it
SEES it properly.
Restart Machine, Restart RWG, try again. No joy? Remove fully, then
reinstall.
Sorry couldn't be more help.

It's this:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4436008_speech-ms-office-using-macros.html
It is a little small and faint and it's not exactly english - it's VBA
code. But I'm sure I should be getting *something* after OCR - ing it.
But as I mentioned earlier, I did the same operation - 'scan from file'
- with a pdf, and got another blank page. So it has to be something to
do with R&W

Is the text nice and clear - as in, not too far away and faint, not too
skewed - clearly discernable as text?

"Hmmm. What do you mean by 'an image of text' ? A scan of a doc?"
Yeah, it's a jpg file that is a picture of some text. I'm thinking R&W
should be able to scan the jpg file, OCR it into usable text, and then
put the text into Word.
