1. Association news
1.1 At this year’s conference, ALT awarded David Hawkridge with Honorary
Life Membership of ALT for his outstanding and sustained contribution to
the advancement of ALT's aims for the development of learning technology
in a national and international context through research, practice,
policy-development, and leadership. We are looking forward to working
more closely with David in the future. The 2010 call for nominations for
the award of Honorary Life membership will be issued in Spring 2010.

1.5 Subscribing to ALT-ANNOUNCE
Staff of organisational and sponsoring members, alongside individual
members of ALT, are entitled to subscribe to ALT-ANNOUNCE, the Jiscmail
list we use to distribute this fortnightly Digest, the quarterly ALT
News, and infrequent brief announcements about ALT. Please encourage
relevant colleagues to subscribe. Please encourage relevant colleagues

the case of staff of organisational and sponsoring members, provided the
staff member joining has an email address consistent with the domain
name of an organisational or sponsoring member of ALT, we will approve

2. Association events
2.1 The 2010 ALT Conference: "Into something rich and strange" - making
sense of the sea-change
Nottingham, UK, 7-9 September 2010.

Key dates are as follows.
1. Proposals for inclusion in the programme will be accepted between 30
November 2009 and 15 February 2010.
2. Bookings will open in early May.
3. Presenters' booking deadline: 28 June 2010.
4. Earlybird booking deadline: 5 July 2010.
5. Bookings close: 13 August 2010.
2.2 Video on a shoestring
Jointly with the E-Learning Network, ALT will be running the third of
three free 90 minute lunchtime webinars, "Video on a Shoestring", on 15
October with James Clay of Gloucestershire College and Rob Hubbard of
