Post 2: Lecturer in Medical Statistics (Clinical & Health Sciences) 0.5 FTE
St George’s, University of London provides high quality education and
research in medicine, biomedical sciences and health sciences. Two new
half-time Lecturer posts in Medical Statistics have been created to
participate in an expanding portfolio of research and postgraduate degree
courses. The primary function of these posts is to provide a statistical
consultancy service for researchers and postgraduate students at St
George’s, advising on quantitative study design and statistical analysis
Post 1 (Ref: 512-09): The main focus of this post will be on providing
advice to laboratory scientists. Knowledge of experimental design and
analysis is essential, and ideally experience of its application in a
biological sciences context.
Post 2 (Ref: 511-09): The main focus of this post will be on providing
advice for patient and health related projects. An understanding of
clinical trials, survey design, and statistical modelling are essential, and
ideally experience of their application in a health context.
Another important function of these posts will be contribution to teaching
in statistics and quantitative research methods, mainly on postgraduate
courses. In addition the postholders will be encouraged to participate in
research leading to published papers.
A single full time lecturer post would be considered for a candidate who has
the ability or potential to deliver in both these areas.
Salary will be in the range £39,305 to £46,395 pro rata (incl. London
Allowance) depending on qualifications and experience.
