Apologies for cross posting
Dear web folk
I would be interested to hear from those of you out there who might be
doing interesting things around using the web as a marketing tool for
overseas students. What I am looking for in particular is examples of
immersive experiences of your university - virtual reality walk-
throughs, the opportunity to interact with students and faculty and to
participate in the academic world. Any good examples of distance
learning using novel or innovative mechanisms for delivery would also
be of interest.
This desire to know what might be going on out there comes from some
conversations in JISC as to how we can support UK HE in making it
attractive to overseas students by giving them a really good
impression of what we have to offer.
I am aware (having been a web manager myself) that ambition is not
always matched by resource or willingness of others to get behind the
vision, so I'd be interested to hear about any barriers or
difficulties you may have experienced in trying to realise something
like this.
If you want to reply off-list to me I'd be happy to summarise the
results. Also if you would be prepared to spend a few minutes on a
telephone conversation that would be useful to know.
Many thanks
Rob
