The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), is hosting the ICTCT<http://www.ictct.org/>'s International Course for Early Career Road Safety Researchers on 20-21 October 2009.
The programme is wide-ranging and interactive, suitable for early career researchers from all disciplines. Sessions include:
- Road safety research: systems approach, overview of research areas (Nicole Muhlrad, INRETS, France)
- Road users as a central element in the road safety process (Ralf Risser, FACTUM OHG, Austria)
- New Technologies and Road Safety (Oliver Carsten, ITS Leeds, UK)
- Data issues in road research (Risto Kulmala, VTT, Finland)
- Pedestrian safety, mobility and quality needs: theory and case studies (Rob Methorst, Ministry of Transport, Netherlands)
- Data in road safety research: examples from traffic conflict techniques (Christer Hydén, Lund University, Sweden)
Immediately following the early career researcher course, will be the ICTCT annual Conference: 'Towards and beyond the 2010 road safety targets - identifying the stubborn issues and their solutions'. Taking place on 22-23 October, the conference is also in Leeds.
