Learner Engagement: Librarians Community of Practice Event
Thursday 5th November 2009, Scotland's Colleges, Stirling
Learner engagement is one of three key principles on which the revised HMIe
quality arrangements are based. This event contains a packed programme on
how you can engage both traditional and non-traditional learners, motivating
and enabling them to become active participants in library service
development and improvement.
We are delighted to announce a morning workshop with Dr Mel Gibson of the
University of Northumbria on 'Who do we think they are? Thinking about and
working with teens and young adults' - a must for librarians looking for new
ways of connecting with young learners. Mel is well known for her work on
literacy issues, especially around young people's reading.
The afternoon programme will include sessions on engaging international
learners, including ESOL and the launch of a free online survey for gauging
learner satisfaction with College library services.
