I have a 6 month internship from October as part of the Graduate Talent Pool
Scheme:
http://bit.ly/3xVeW3
ISIS is a world-leading research centre which uses neutrons and muons to
study the atomic-level properties of substances, from soap films to
superconductors, engineering components to earth science specimens,
advanced battery components to biomolecules.
We seek an intern to develop news and features based on ISIS science
investigations, for use in publications, our website and elsewhere.
The role would suit someone with an interest in communicating contemporary
science. You might be a journalism graduate seeking to specialise in science, or
a science graduate wanting to switch to science communication.
This is a hands-on, intensive role working with scientists from the UK and
overseas in our vast experimental areas.
ISIS has over 30 experiment stations serving an international community of
2000 scientists. Each year over 400 papers are published based on ISIS
research.
You will have the opportunity to use your excellent writing skills for our
publications and websites, as well as to develop or expand your skills in
producing audio and video material.
Whatever your background, you will need to have excellent communication
skills, particularly face-to-face interactions and English language writing, and a
desire to use these in a scientific environment.
You will also need to be well-organised, enthusiastic, capable of taking projects
from initial idea to finished project, able to work independently and as part of a
team, and be comfortable using standard Microsoft Office packages such as
Word or PowerPoint.
