Public Engagement Administrator, Grade 7 (0.4 Full time equivalent/FTE)
*Salary: £31,620 - £38,250 p.a. (pro-rata) including London Allowance
We are looking for someone to organise the public and stakeholder
engagement side of a new research project, CHI+MED, which is studying
the usability of interactive medical devices such as pumps that give
drugs for treatment/pain relief of cancer patients, and glucometers that
measure blood sugar levels for diabetics. The ultimate aim of the
stakeholder engagement side of the project is to make a transformational
change in the way devices are designed, procured and used, and thereby
improve patient safety. We need an enthusiastic team player to join the
UCL Interaction Centre, working also with others at Swansea University
and Queen Mary, University of London. The post is available from
November 2009 until September 2015. Initial salary up to £34,294 (pro
rata) depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
Key responsibilities will include preparing information materials and
organising events for relevant stakeholders, such as patient safety
groups, equipment manufacturers, clinicians, hospital procurement staff
and the general public; liaising with external designers of website and
publicity materials; overseeing the production of publicity materials;
helping to maintain the project website; and providing general
administrative assistance to the project manager.
You should possess excellent organisational and communication skills and
have the ability to manage your time effectively. You should have a
commitment to quality of service, sound IT skills and be able to learn
rapidly new software systems that support this role. You will be
educated to degree level (or equivalent) (relevant higher degree
preferred). Prior experience of public engagement or administration in
research or higher education is desirable. You will be required to
undertake any necessary training and development activities, and to
undergo a police check (CRB) during your probationary period.
