Many places in industry (mining/refining/engineering) I have work at have quite strict policies for fatigue management. They see it as a safety issue - tired people = accidents. 14 hours was the maximum, including travel time to and from work.
I did some 12 hour shifts at a nickel refinery and lived over an hour away, so they arranged a taxi to and from work
