The Earthquake and People Interaction Centre (EPICENTRE) at UCL is happy to
announce the:
1st EPICENTRE - Joint Centre for Disaster Research (JCDR) International Risk
Perception Symposium:
“Cities at Risk: Living with Perils in the 21st Century “
To be held on Monday 26th October 2009 at UCL, Old Refectory
The symposium includes talks by invited International speakers and breakout
sessions for discussion of topics” Challenges in cross-disciplinary and cross-
cultural collaborations in risk perception research” and “gaps and opportunities
in risk perception research for the 21st century”.
Our confirmed speakers are: Prof. Nuray Karanci (Middle East Technical
University, Turkey), Prof. Katsuya Yamori (Kyoto University, Japan), Prof.
David Johnston and Dr Julia Becker (JCDR, New Zealand), Dr Cassidy Johnson
and Dr Adriana Allen (UCL, Development Planning Unit) and Dr Helene Joffe
(UCL, Psychology). Prof John Adams of UCL will be the Discussant for the
event and will chair several sessions in the afternoon. Dr Tiziana Rossetto
(EPICENTRE Director) will be opening the symposium.
