medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
May of the shots were quite close-up. Only occasionally you could see that the archaeologists were actually working on a grid, to (presumably) record exactly where each artifact was found, and map its exact location. But this was not shown very clearly in the video.
The video just appeared more of a haphazard "dig-and-grab" in rapid succession. It did not suggest a time lapse between any of the shots, whereas in reality, the founds could have been days apart. In the video, they seemed only seconds apart. This made it appear as if a guy with wheelbarrow and shovel just started digging in a field, and randomly dug up these artifacts in quick succession ...

I'm interested in Franz's comment since I too noticed the very informal techniques used by the Staffordshire team. What did you mean, Franz, by "the way this video was shot"?
