I work in an environment in which some professionals (engineers et al) have had little association with the Disability Movement and Disability Studies. However, they are quite willing to entertain a reasoned and short explanation of why some terms are not acceptable and to adopt alternatives. I do this, in part, because I feel uncomfortable if I do not intervene, especially because we have so many disabled people interacting with us--including me.

English is the "language of choice" for less than 15% of humans in the world -
so all these PC or non-PC English terms are heavily outnumbered and out-
gunned by the words and phrases most people actually use in the real world
outside the anglo box :)
Relax ... the Chinese will come and offer some nice new words to chew on...
