PERFORMANCE MAKING WORKSHOPS
facilitated by Sally E. Dean
A new series of workshops in three parts each focusing on a different stage in the process
of creating performance work: GENERATE, DEVELOP, and EDIT & REFINE. Together, they
aim to support you as a creative artist to generate strong, clear material which embodies
and develops your own personal ideas, vision and aesthetic - in both solo and group
pieces. They provide a space to take creative risks and experiment with new approaches
and compositional techniques, whether you are new to performance making or looking to
refresh and challenge your existing practice. Constructive feedback will be available
throughout, both one-to-one from the facilitator, and from other participants, facilitated
using established methodologies such as The Field in New York and Liz Lerman's Critical
Response Process. At the end of the series, there will be an opportunity for participants
to show what they have made in a performance event with invited audience.
Each workshop builds on the previous one. Anyone who would like to join the series after
the first workshop should contact Sally to discuss whether they have compositional
material that meets the workshop's stage of development. (max 9 participants)
