Learning Links Programme 2009-10 ROUND 2 is Open
Funding of up to £1500 is available to teachers & educators and professionals
in museums & archives to forge links and work together in partnership.
Learning Links is a professional development programme, supported by
Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA), that offers participants the
opportunity to experience each others working environments, with the aim of
supporting a skilled and innovative workforce provide creative opportunities for
children and young people.
Learning Links is aimed at:
• Museums and archives of all shapes and sizes who wish to develop
their learning offer in partnership with learning professionals
• Professionals who have a remit to support children and young people
through learning (teachers, extended school coordinators, educators, support
workers etc) and wish to develop their learning offer in partnership with
museums and archives.
A variety of placement opportunities are available including
 Pocket Placements which support up to 3 day placements between a
teacher / children & young person professional and museum / archive staff to
work together to understand how their work can compliment each other.
 Reciprocal Placement which support up to 5 day placements between
a teacher / children & young person professional and museum / archive staff
to develop a learning offer in partnership.
 Placements are also available for ITE students, SCITTs and other
cultural organisations to develop partnerships with museums and archives to
support their understanding of how museums and archives can support
children and young peoples learning.
All costs related to these placements are supported by MLA.

There is a two-stage application process - an expression of interest (EOI) and
an application form. The EOI Stage is open until 12 October 2009. The closing
date for applications is 5pm Friday November 6 2009. The application forms
are in a PDF format and can be completed and submitted electronically.
A third round of the Learning Links programme will be available in April 2010 for
the 2010/2011 academic year.
