This event will provide insight into the MHRA’s newly launched Targeted
Research Programme which has been established to commission research
projects to support the work of the Agency and stimulate interest in the
intellectual challenges of regulation. The Targeted Research Project aims to
strengthen the Agency's links with the external scientific research community
by calling for potential topics from academics through an annual commissioning
process. The Targeted Research Programme Group, chaired by Professor Kent
Woods (CEO), will then choose research priorities for funding.
This launch will promote the benefits of research, showcase previous studies
and provide chance for academics and NHS staff to understand more fully the
opportunities available through the MHRA to undertake and lead vigilance
research to improve public health and build national capacity in regulatory
science.
In addition to plenary sessions featuring Professor Kent Woods and June Raine
(Director of Vigilance and Risk management of Medicines), there will be
exhibition stands where delegates can talk to representatives from the MHRA
Divisions to understand more about the current challenges and research needs.
