Dear Allstat,
Hays Pharma have been retained by a global healthcare company to recruit a
Statistician to join their growing division.
This is a new post based in Germany and is therefore both challenging and
presents exciting opportunities. You will have a lot of independence and
variety is guaranteed.
You will consult on all aspects of Statistics to meet the changing needs of
the business, ranging from upstream science through to the analysis of
consumer trials. Consulting covers the design of studies as well as the
analysis and interpretation. You will also help train the local
organisations in Statistics to increase their capabilities. Project work
may be one-off pieces or you may be a fully integrated part of a multi
disciplinary team with long term objectives.
On a broader level you will look for opportunities to improve organisational
effectiveness through efficient management of data and automation of routine
statistical tasks. In this you will partner with departmental colleagues in
Europe and the US. You will also collaborate with your European colleagues
to deliver statistical training in other European technical centres so some
European travel is expected.
Because of the independence of the role, you will have the primary
responsibility (working with your manager) to collaborate with local
business and project leadership to identify and align on the highest
priorities where you can make a difference.
Skills and Experience:
- A strong technical breadth and depth in Statistics. You will likely have
a first degree containing a significant amount of Statistics and a Masters
degree or above in Statistics or a closely related field. Key areas of
knowledge are statistical modelling, multivariate analysis and design of
experiments. You will be comfortable and competent in using a range of
statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, JMP, SPSS are all used).
- You will have an enquiring mind and be interested in science and how data
and statistical analyses can be used. Being able to connect and develop
ideas and be innovative are desirable attributes. You will be expected to
continue your professional development as a statistician and training is
actively supported.
- You are likely to have had some experience in a consulting role or
similar. You will also have demonstrated an ability to partner effectively
and communicate with managers, scientists, researchers and others whose
statistical knowledge may be limited. Good written and oral communication
skills are essential as is an ability to form collaborative relationships
and build effective networks. Many projects have multi national scope so
you will need to be able to work productively with colleagues located
remotely.
- Effective time management is a key skill since the scope of the role is
big. Personal effectiveness and management of a broad workload is important
to success. You will likely have experience managing complexity in your
daily work.
- An appreciation of Data Management and Clinical Research is desirable to
help make you more effective in your day to day role plus to help facilitate
bringing in techniques and methodologies via your colleagues.
- Fluency in English, German is an advantage
