Management by fact
It is widely accepted that an organisation will more effectively achieve its objectives if its people, at all levels, base their decisions on data that truly measures achieved performance.
In this interactive workshop, two very experienced management consultants, Roland Caulcutt and Tony Brown, will offer participants the opportunity to "manage by fact" within a simple business simulation. Hundreds of previous participants in this exercise have had mixed success, making both good and bad decisions.
Studying the decisions and their consequences can help us to understand:
1. Why certain strategies will inevitably lead to wrong decisions,
2. What strategies can best reduce the risk of making wrong decisions,
3. What organisational obstacles we are likely to encounter if we adopt the better strategies.
Different management cultures can have a significant effect on the degree of employee involvement and the flow of factual data bottom up - top down and the quality and effectiveness of decision-making.
