Dear Colleagues,
In reaction to the most recent developments in the markets and
especially with respect agricultural markets, the signatories call on
academics and politicians to pursue a more responsible market shaping in the future.
Therefore, we wrote the resolution
"Market shaping instead of blind faith in the market or market subjection!"
In the resolution, we appeal for more responsible market creation. The resolution was written in the context of the dairy-strikes in 2008. During the strikes, the press statements, e.g. from agricultural economists or from the German Farm Association, call for more deregulation and for an "abstinence of the market.?
In contrast, we represent the position that the aims connect with a socially ecological market economy are fulfilled, not by prize mechanisms as such, but that a responsible and deliberate arrangement of the market economy is necessary.

Next to your name, please mention also the name of the institution where you are active, in case you do not want to sign the resolution "just" as a private individual.
We would welcome it very much if you passed this position paper on to other scientists. However, we would like to remind of the fact that we only want to pass the resolution to the press, when enough signatures have been collected and everybody who wanted to sign the resolution had the possibility to do so.
The start of the petition was 09.09.2009 and signatures are collected throughout Europe.
